Persnickety Box is Temporarily Pausing Printing

When I sold Persnickety Prints in 2023, I intentionally structured the businesses to work together so that Persnickety Box customers could continue receiving the same professional silver halide prints they had always loved.

What this means for you

Unfortunately, the manufacturing and brand relationship has become strained amid an active legal dispute with the current owners of Persnickety Prints, and we no longer have confidence in the continuity of fulfillment services. Rather than continue accepting payments without that confidence, we've chosen to pause printing while we build a permanent solution.

An active lawsuit alleges that the people who bought Persnickety Prints stopped making the payments they promised, moved the business into a new company, and are continuing to operate it while trying to avoid the obligations they agreed to when they purchased it. Because these court filings are public, we've linked them here.

  • No. Persnickety Box is temporarily pausing subscriptions, billing, printing, and shipping while we establish a reliable long-term fulfillment solution.

    The app will remain available, and current customers may continue accessing their accounts and organizing their photos.

  • Persnickety Prints has served as the fulfillment provider for Persnickety Box and has threatened to stop fulfilling our products.

    This issue is connected to ongoing public litigation concerning the sale of Persnickety Prints. Because the matter is active, there are limits on what we can discuss publicly. We have linked the public court filings for customers who would like additional context.

  • We are working toward resuming fulfillment as quickly as responsibly possible, but we are not announcing a firm date yet.

    We are evaluating several options, including a new fulfillment relationship and the possibility of creating an independent production facility. We will post meaningful updates on this page and communicate directly with customers by email.

  • No. Recurring billing will be paused during the interruption. No new subscription payments will be collected until Persnickety Box is prepared to resume service.

  • No. Your paid box credits will remain associated with your account during the pause.

    They will be available when fulfillment resumes unless you request and receive a refund for an eligible box.

  • New paid subscriptions will be temporarily unavailable. If you would like to know when memberships reopen, you may join the update list here.

  • Yes. Current customers may continue to:

    • Access their accounts

    • Upload photos

    • Organize their memories

    • Fill existing paid boxes

    • Review previously created boxes

    Printing and shipping are the only portions of the service being temporarily delayed.

  • Your completed box will remain in the fulfillment queue. It will not be printed or shipped until fulfillment resumes. You will receive an update before queued orders begin processing.

  • Yes. Photos currently stored within Persnickety Box will remain securely stored and connected to your account. As with any digital photo service, we also encourage customers to keep their original photos backed up on their phone, computer, cloud account, or another personal storage system.

  • Yes. Because billing is being paused, you will not receive another recurring charge during the interruption.

    You may also formally cancel your subscription through the app or by contacting customer support at admin@persnicketybox.com

    We recommend leaving your account active. Since billing has already been paused, there is no additional cost to wait. By keeping your account active, you'll preserve your paid box credits, your stored photos, and your progress toward earning future loyalty reward boxes.

  • All unused open boxes will remain in your account. You may continue filling those boxes, or leave them open until later.

  • The most meaningful thing you can do right now is share this story.
