DIY Nursery Photo Block Art with Mod Podge

There’s something about a nursery that makes you want to get everything just right. The crib, the colors, the tiny details…

But the pieces that matter most? They’re the ones that tell your baby’s story. This DIY nursery project is one of my favorites because it’s simple, meaningful, and actually lasts. And the best part? You’re using photo prints that won’t bleed, won’t fade, and won’t lose their meaning over time.

Why This DIY Nursery Project Is Different

Most Mod Podge photo projects come with a hidden frustration…

The ink runs. The colors smear. The finish looks cloudy.

That’s because most prints are ink-based. But when you use photos printed through the Persnickety Box app, everything changes.

Your prints are:

  • 4x4 full-bleed (perfect for blocks)

  • Printed on real photographic paper

  • Developed using a silver halide process (not ink)

Which means:

  • No bleeding when you apply Mod Podge

  • Crisp, vibrant colors under the finish

  • Archival quality that won’t fade over time

So instead of a temporary craft, you’re creating something that can literally sit on a shelf for years.

What You’ll Need:

  • Scissors

  • Paint Brush

  • 4×4 Persnickety Box Prints

  • 4×4 Wood blocks (or tiles)

  • Mod Podge glue

Step-by-Step: DIY Nursery Photo Blocks

1. Trim your photos
Your 4x4 prints are already the perfect size but trim first if needed.

2. Apply a thin layer of Mod Podge to the wood
Even coverage is key. Not too thick.

3. Place your photo carefully
Press it down gently, starting from the center and smoothing outward to avoid bubbles.

4. Let it dry completely
Give it time, this is where the magic sets.

5. Seal the top
Apply a thin layer over the top of the photo, and over the edges to seal it. This is what gives it that soft, finished look.

The One Thing Every Mom Should Do

You can buy the perfect nursery. You can pin all the inspiration. But none of it replaces this:

Printing your photos.

Because long after the crib is gone and the room is repainted, those images (those tiny, everyday moments) are what remain.

So if you do one thing… Open your camera roll. Download the Persnickety Box app. Start swiping. And turn your baby’s first memories into something they can grow up seeing.
